"Waiting on" Wednesday: Allegiant

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which showcases books we can’t wait to get our hands on.
What I'm waiting on this week...

Allegiant (Divergent, #3)
Publication Date: October 22, 2013
Allegiant by Veronica Roth

One choice will define you.

What if your whole world was a lie?
What if a single revelation—like a single choice—changed everything?
What if love and loyalty made you do things you never expected?

The explosive conclusion to Veronica Roth’s #1 New York Times bestselling Divergent trilogy reveals the secrets of the dystopian world that has captivated millions of readers in Divergent and Insurgent.

Okay, I know the summary kind of sucks, but if you've ever even given the series a chance, you'd know that it's going to be an amazing book. I'm already predicting that I'll read it and then flip out and die. Probably in that order, but you never know. I just look at it and all these feels. How do I deal with it? Someone please help me. There needs to be a fangirl hotline so I can get a handle on my emotions. Maybe if I look it up on Google... Anyway, I believe Veronica Roth is coming to the National Book Festival in the fall, and I plan on meeting her then. Will there be tears? Will I faint? Most likely both, but we'll see.

If you follow or comment, make sure to leave a link to your WoW post/blog, because I'd love to reciprocate!

Hellebella is not your average teenager. She is a demon princess from the underworld. She does, however, have teenager tendencies. She is outspoken, blunt, funny and rebellious. When a final act of rebellion sends her father into a rage, he sends her off to the North American School of Paranormal Princes-sing where he hopes she can learn to become a proper young lady and do something constructive with her life.

Not the only princess being sent away to the NASPP, Hellebella meets a lively bunch of girls from different paranormal kingdoms, including fairies, a vampire and shape-shifters. But not everything is light and happy at school. The girls find themselves entranced by a secret and mysterious club in another realm. There, they are forced to dance every night, and if they do not the consequences are dire.

Helle, as her new friends call her, must find a way to break them free of the spell holding them hostage, figure out WHO is behind the malicious magic and struggle with her own love for her best friend’s brother. Hopefully she can save them in time, before they become ghosts powerless to stop the magic from harming someone else. (via Goodreads)

"Waiting on" Wednesday: Cruel Beauty

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which showcases books we can’t wait to get our hands on.
What I'm waiting on this week...

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

Cruel Beauty
Publication Date: January 28, 2014
Graceling meets Beauty and the Beast in this sweeping fantasy about one girl's journey to fulfill her destiny and the monster who gets in her way-by stealing her heart.

Based on the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, Cruel Beauty is a dazzling love story about our deepest desires and their power to change our destiny.

Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.

With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.

But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.

As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love. (via Goodreads)

I'm starting to really get into fairy tale retellings. I think it might start growing into an unhealthy obsession. Well, of course that's going to happen when there are books like this out there, just waiting for me to devour them! The girl sounds so badass! OHGOODNESS. What am going to do with myself with all this waiting ahead of me? I might actually combust! And that cover! I'm literally swooning.

"Waiting on" Wednesday: Frigid

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which showcases books we can’t wait to get our hands on.
What I'm waiting on this week...

Frigid
Publication Date: November 5, 2013
Frigid by J. Lynn

For twenty-one-year-old Sydney, being in love with Kyler isn't anything new. They'd been best friends ever since he pushed her down on the playground and she made him eat a mud pie. Somewhere over the years, she fell for him and fell hard. The big problem with that? Kyler puts the 'man' in man-whore. He's never stayed with a girl longer than a few nights, and with it being their last year in college, Syd doesn't want to risk their friendship by declaring her love.

Kyler has always put Syd on a pedestal that was too high for him to reach. To him, she's perfect and she's everything. But the feelings he has for her, he's always hidden away or focused on any other female. After all, Kyler will always be the poor boy from the wrong side of tracks, and Syd will always be the one girl he can never have.

But when they're stranded together at a posh ski resort due to a massive Nor'easter, there's nothing stopping their red-hot feelings for each other from coming to the surface. Can their friendship survive the attraction? Better yet, can they survive at all? Because as the snow falls, someone is stalking them, and this ski trip may be a life-changer in more ways than one.

Yeah, I do know that this book was already published in eBook form a couple days ago, but the actual hard copies are being released in later this year, so THIS STILL COUNTS. Anyway, J. Lynn/Jennifer L. Armentrout released a sneak peak of the first three chapters of this, so I got a chance to read that and it was AMAZING. Let me just say that Kyler is just amazing. He's just amazing, amazing, amazing. Now, I will admit that the cover is a bit cheesy, but I'm sure the story will make up for it.

Follow me! I follow back!

"Waiting on" Wednesday: Origin

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which showcases books we can’t wait to get our hands on.
What I'm waiting on this week...

Origin (Lux, #4)
Publication Date: August 27, 2013
Origin (Lux #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, he’s facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

All Katy can do is survive.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way she can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don’t seem entirely crazy, but the group’s goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

Together, they can face anything.

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on?

And will they even be together?

I have fallen deeply in love with Daemon Black. Deeply. The third book in the Lux series left off at a cliffhanger that broke my heart so devastatingly that I just... THE PAIN IS STILL SO STRONG. And I finished reading it months ago. You should be doing either of these two things at this point:

  1. Going to learn more about the Lux series and reading them and loving them and keeping them with you forever because they're precious literary gems. Also, because Daemon is too sexy to ignore.
  2.  Hyperventilating whilst staring at the computer screen because the cover shows Daemon's chest and the feels are so intense that your heart is going to explode right now.
In addition, I believe that this story is a mix of both Katy and Daemon's point of view, so HELL YES!

What are you waiting on? Comment and follow! I follow back!

"Waiting on" Wednesday: Emerald Green

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly post hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine which showcases books we can’t wait to get our hands on.
What I'm waiting on this week...

Emerald Green
Publication Date: October 8, 2013
Emeral Green by Kerstin Gier (translated by Anthea Bell)

Gwen has a destiny to fulfill, but no one will tell her what it is.

She’s only recently learned that she is the Ruby, the final member of the time-traveling Circle of Twelve, and since then nothing has been going right. She suspects the founder of the Circle, Count Saint-German, is up to something nefarious, but nobody will believe her. And she’s just learned that her charming time-traveling partner, Gideon, has probably been using her all along.

This stunning conclusion picks up where Sapphire Blue left off, reaching new heights of intrigue and romance as Gwen finally uncovers the secrets of the time-traveling society and learns her fate.

Since this was translated into English, there a whole bunch of reviews on Goodreads for it, but none of them are in a language that I can understand. I have no doubt that this one will be fantastic, though. I loved the first two books in this series and I don't know how long I can wait anymore for the last one. I might combust if my hands aren't on it the moment it hits the shelves. And the covers. HOLY COW, am I in love with those covers. They're so elegant and the girl in the picture is pretty and just... just... YES. I'm not sure if you've checked out Ruby Red and Sapphire Blue yet either, but give it a chance. There will be no regrets.

Book Haul #1

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Amber (that would be moi) who liked to spend all her money on books. She tried saving - oh, did she try - but whenever some moolah was sent her way, within seconds, she'd have already dashed to the bookstore, ready to spend each and every coin, because that's how she rolls (Take this path. There may be nothing left to pay for all the necessities of the human body, but what's more essential than a good book? That's right. NOTHING.).

One day, Amber was told by her lovely parental units that they'd be taking her to Harry Potter World so she worked hard to save up all of her money for the trip. Summer came and they decided they'd rather redo the backyard. SO SHE DIDN'T GO. Her hopes and dreams thoroughly crushed, Amber spent her money building up her cart with books on Amazon. To this day, she is still buying her sorrows away with the money she would have spent in HP World. The end.

  1. Until I Die by Amy Plum
  2. Divergent by Veronica Roth
  3. Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon
  4. Breathe by Abbi Glines
  5. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

And you can bet that I'll be reviewing most of the books listed, so look out for that in later posts! I hoped the story I told you above didn't break your heart like it broke mine, but as a bit of solace, there is a happy ending. My bookshelf will never be full, but it certainly is getting fed. I know I'm being annoying with that stupid play on my blog name. Just ignore me.
